Jaguars Depth Chart 2023: Offense

Returning for his third NFL season at quarterback is Trevor Lawrence, with a number of offensive playmakers ready to make a splash (and score lots of points) in a season where this team is favored to win the AFC South.

Jaguars QB Depth Chart

Starting for the Jaguars at quarterback is Trevor Lawrence, heading into his third season with the team since being selected first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He enters Year 3 on a high note, too, having seen improvement across the board in 2022 from his rookie season, including improvements in completion percentage, touchdown rate, interception rate, yards per attempt, NFL passer rating... the list goes on and on. In his second year, Lawrence ranked top-10 among NFL quarterbacks in passing yards (4,113), passing touchdowns (25), and passer rating (95.2), with more room for growth still given the rest of the skill players this team looks to deploy this season.

Outside of Lawrence, the Jaguars quarterback depth chart has veteran C.J. Beathard as the backup quarterback and NFL rookie/CFL veteran Nathan Rourke as the team's third-string quarterback. Given Beathard's track record in a limited sample of starts with a 2-10 record over 12 opportunities and some highlight plays from Rourke in the preseason.

Jaguars RB Depth Chart

Atop the Jaguars running back depth chart is third-year running back Travis Etienne, who was selected 25th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jaguars. Unfortunately, a foot injury sidelined him for the entirety of his rookie season, effectively making 2022 his "rookie" season. In that debut, he shined, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, eighth best in the league, totaling 1,441 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns. Despite that success, however, the Jaguars did make a move to add depth in the 2023 NFL Draft, selecting Tank Bigsby (Auburn) with the 88th overall pick in the third round.

Bigbsy's bigger frame at 6-foot and 210 pounds could put him in line for some work in first and second downs, as well as goal-line situations. He's reportedly shined in training camp practices throughout the 2023 offseason, playing in conjunction with Etienne. Working into the rotation as depth players are RBs JaMycal Hasty, D'Ernest Johnson, Snoop Conner, and Qadree Ollison.

Jaguars WR Depth Chart

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made several splashes at wide receiver since the hiring of HC Doug Pederson. The first splash included the signing of former Cardinals WR Christian Kirk to a four-year, $72 million deal in the 2022 offseason, who led the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns last season. They also made a move to acquire former Falcons WR Calvin Ridley at the trade deadline in 2022, who was serving a one-year suspension due to violations of the gambling policy. Rounding out the Jaguars wide receiver depth chart for the starters is Zay Jones, who plays primarily on the outside alongside Ridley, with Kirk functioning as the starter from the slot.

Backing up the starters at wide receiver are Kevin Austin Jr., Jamal Agnew (who also functions as the team's primary punt and kick returner), and Tim Jones.

Jaguars TE Depth Chart

The Jacksonville Jaguars tight end depth chart has two starters listed, including TEs Evan Engram and Luke Farrell. Engram, entering his second season with the team, functioned primarily as the team's receiving tight end in 2022 running routes on 91% of snaps and blocking on just 3.5%. Farrell projects to once again to work as the team's primary blocking tight end, having blocked on 82.7% of snaps in 2022 while running 16 total routes.

Jaguars Offensive Line Depth Chart

Starting for the Jaguars offensive line in 2023 are LT Walker Little, LG Ben Bartch, C Luke Fortner, RG Brandon Scherff, and first-round rookie RT Anton Harrison. Typically, Cam Robinson will be starting for the team at left tackle, but he'll be set to miss the first four games of the season serving a suspension for a violation of the NFL's PED policy. Unfortunately, the offensive line took a big hit with the loss of Jawaan Taylor, who signed with Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, so with their best OL out for the first four weeks of the season, this crew could get off to a shaky start.

Jaguars Defense Depth Chart 2023

For as much power the 2023 Jacksonville Jaguars hold on offense, they may struggle on the defense if the depth chart is any indication. Interestingly, the team ranks eighth in the league with just over $102.6 million in cap dollars allocated to the defense, despite their projected lack of depth, particularly in the secondary.

Jaguars Defensive Line Depth Chart

Starting on the defensive line are DEs Folorunso Fatukasi and Roy Robertson-Harris, with DaVon Hamilton at DT/NT. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, Hamilton is out indefinitely managing a back injury. The exact nature of his back injury hasn't been disclosed and a timeline for return is unknown, but while out in the preseason, rookie Raymond Vohasek has seen the bulk of snaps at nose tackle. Also on the DL is veteran Dawuane Smoot, who's on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list as he looks to return from a season-ending Achilles tear in the 2022 season.

Jaguars Linebacker Depth Chart

At outside linebacker are starters Travon Walker as the strong side LB and Josh Allen at the weak side. The team has 2020's 20th overall pick, K'Lavon Chaisson, is currently listed as a backup on the team's unofficial depth chart along with fifth-round rookie Yassir Abdullah. Lining up as inside linebackers are Devin Lloyd and Foyesade Oluokun, backed up by Shaquille Quarterman and Chad Muma, respectively.

Jaguars CB Depth Chart

The Jaguars cornerback depth chart is highlighted by starters Tyson Campbell and Darious Williams on the outside, with Tre Herndon starting out of the slot. Backing up the outside corners are Tevaughn Campbell, Montaric Brown, and Chris Claybrooks working behind them, pending who makes the official 53-man roster. Campbell will look to continue making an impact in his third season, coming off a 2022 campaign where he finished as PFF's 7th-ranked cornerback, having allowed a reception on 58.5% of targets in coverage for 9.9 yards per reception.

Jaguars Safeties Depth Chart

Starting at free safety on the Jaguars depth chart will be Andre Cisco, backed up by Daniel Thomas. At strong safety is Rayshawn Jenkins, backed up by Andrew Wingard. Cisco and Jenkins combined for nine pass breakups and six interceptions in the 2022 season, though left much to be desired in coverage. Jenkins ranked second among NFL safeties with 559 receiving yards allowed in coverage, also with the 10th highest missed forced tackle rate among safeties at 17.3%.

Jaguars Special Teams

Headlining the Jaguars special teams is kicker Brandon McManus, who was signed to a one-year, $2 million contract in free agency. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos prior to being released in May in a move to clear some cap space. Veteran LS Ross Mastic, entering his fourth season with the team. Returning punts and kicks in 2023 is WR Jamal Agnew, with rookie WR Parker Washington on backup duties. Veteran punter Logan Cooke is entering his sixth season with the team.

Jacksonville Jaguars Coaches

After a disastrous season under former head coach Urban Meyer in 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars bounced back strong under the experience of Doug Pederson. The Jaguars officially announced Pederson's hire on February 3, 2022, and he went on to go 9-8 with a trip to the playoffs in his first season. The Jaguars eventually lost in the Divisional Round to the soon-to-be Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Pederson sits with a .531 record as a head coach, including one Super Bowl win in the 2017-2018 season.

With those five picks, the team drafted Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne (2021), Travon Walker and Devin Lloyd (2022), and OL Anton Harrison. Other notable moves for Baalke have included the signing of Christian Kirk to a 4-year, $72 million contract — a deal that was widely criticized by analysts and fans alike, as well as the trade to acquire WR Calvin Ridley from the Atlanta Falcons at the trade deadline during Ridley's 2022 suspension.
