Where Does Hard Rock Stadium Stack Up?

The top stadium on the list is Ford Field. Since 2013, nearly 60% of games played at the home of the Detroit Lions have hit the Over. Last season, the Lions had the 28th-ranked defense, but scored the 5th most posts in the entire NFL — a surefire recipe for Overs. Six of their nine home games went over.

The Caesars Superdome ranks number two on the list with New Orleans Saints home games going Over the point total 55.29% of the time. That percentage has been trending down in recent years. In the past five seasons, the Over at the Superdown has fallen all the way to 47.7%.

Meanwhile, across the same five-year period, games at the number three ranked AT&T Stadium have seen the highest number of contests surpass Vegas’ point total. Since 2018, Cowboys’ home games are cashing the Over at an impressive 62.8% clip.

While Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay and TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville failed to make the top ten on our list, the Miami Dolphins’ home turf ranks at number 8. Games played at Hard Rock Stadium since 2013 have hit the Over 51.88% of the time.

However, during the 2022 season, the Fins’ first with head coach Mike McDaniel,  Hard Rock-hosted contests went Over in just one of seven games. This may be surprising to some fans considering the Dolphins ranked 11th in total points scored, and star wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle each hit career highs in receiving yards.

Since opening in 1985, Hard Rock Stadium has seen its fair share of superstars, but none as beloved as the great Dolphins Quarterback Dan Marino, who played his entire seventeen-season career with the Dolphins. Marino remains the all-time passing leader at Hard Rock Stadium, tossing for 23,950 yards and 155 touchdowns.

Hard Rock Stadium has also hosted six Super Bowls. The only one that occurred in the ten-year period we studied for this article was Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs won, and in a heartbreaking result of Over betters, the 53-point total set by Vegas went Under by less than a field goal.
