It’s been a year to remember for college basketball fans in the Sunshine State, with the Florida Atlantic Owls and Miami Hurricanes rolling their way into their programs’ first Final Four and several other Florida schools knocking on the door. The Owls and Hurricanes also have the top championship odds of any Florida teams in 2024, according to oddsmakers at ESPN BET, with each program sitting at +4000 to hoist the hardware next spring in Arizona.
With FAU sitting at 2-0 this season (with blowout wins over Loyola Chicago and Eastern Michigan under their belt) and Miami starting the year with wins over the New Jersey Institute of Technology, UCF, and Florida International — it’s worth wondering which school could be the next to reach the Final Four.
Ahead of the Hurricanes’ Friday night showdown against Georgia and the Owls’ ESPN Events Invitational opener against Butler on Nov. 23, FloridaBet.com used our Florida sports betting mindset and broke down the odds on which Florida University could cut down the nets next.
Final Four Odds For FL CBB Teams
Although online Florida betting apps are not yet legal, below you'll find odds to make the Final Four taken from ESPN BET nationally.
FAU: +4000 (T-17th with ZAGA/Miami/USC)
Miami: +4000 (T-17th)
Florida: +6600 (T-34th with K-State/OHST)
FSU: +15000 (T-47th with ASU/CLEM/MIZZOU/NCST/others)
Which FL School Will Reach Final Four Next?
The odds say that FAU and Miami are in a dead heat to make it to the Final Four next, with each carrying talent-laden lineups and having championship-caliber coaches. Between Dusty May of FAU and Jim Larrañaga of Miami, one could argue that Florida has some of the best coaching talent in the country, with each having lifted their programs to meteoric heights. Larrañaga has done it at two stops, taking George Mason to the Final Four on the ultimate Cinderella run in 2006, before doing the same with Miami 17 years later.
May is a first-time head coach but has lifted the Owls from also-ran status in Conference USA to the top tier of the sport with bona fide American Athletic Conference championship dreams in 2024. While the two programs aren’t scheduled to meet in 2023-24, it’s not out of the question that the two Florida powers could meet during the Big Dance next spring. Both programs are tied for 17th nationally on ESPN BET’s MBB title odds board, alongside powers like Gonzaga and USC, showing how far the Owls and Hurricanes have come under their respective coaches.
If FAU or Miami aren’t the next teams to make a Final Four, don’t discount Florida (who is listed at +6600 to win it all in 2024 on ESPN BET), while Florida State (+15000) and UCF (+30000) seem like distant threats to even make the NCAA Tournament this season.
